Terms of Service

Welcome to Monterey Bay Car Rentals ("MBAutoRentals," "we," "us," or "our"). By renting a vehicle from us, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Rental Eligibility

To rent a vehicle from Monterey Bay Car Rentals, you must:

• Be at least 21 years of age
• Possess a valid driver's license that has been held for at least one year
• Provide a valid credit or debit card in your name
• Provide proof of insurance or purchase coverage through us

2. Reservations & Payment

• Reservations can be made by phone or through our contact form
• A deposit may be required at the time of booking
• Full payment is due at the time of vehicle pickup
• We accept major credit cards and debit cards
• Cancellations made 24+ hours before pickup receive a full refund
• Cancellations within 24 hours may be subject to a cancellation fee

3. Delivery & Pick-Up Service

• Delivery and pick-up service is available within 15 miles of Monterey
• A $20 fee applies for delivery and pick-up services
• Delivery times are subject to availability and must be scheduled in advance
• The renter must be present with valid identification at time of delivery

4. Vehicle Use

The rented vehicle may only be driven by the registered renter listed on the rental agreement. The vehicle may NOT be used for:

• Any illegal purpose or activity
• Towing or pushing other vehicles
• Racing, speed testing, or reckless driving
• Transporting passengers for hire (rideshare, taxi, etc.)
• Off-road driving or on unpaved roads
• Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• Transporting more passengers than the vehicle is designed to carry

5. Fuel Policy

Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, a refueling charge will apply.

6. Mileage

Rentals include unlimited mileage within California. Additional fees may apply for travel outside the state. Please inform us in advance if you plan to travel outside California.

7. Insurance & Liability

• Renters must provide proof of valid auto insurance that covers rental vehicles, OR purchase coverage through us
• The renter is responsible for any damage to the vehicle during the rental period
• The renter is responsible for any traffic violations, parking tickets, or toll charges incurred during the rental period
• A security deposit may be held and will be refunded upon return of the vehicle in satisfactory condition

8. Vehicle Condition & Return

• The vehicle must be returned in the same condition it was received
• Interior must be reasonably clean; excessive cleaning fees may apply
• Any damage must be reported immediately
• Late returns may result in additional daily charges
• Smoking is strictly prohibited in all vehicles; a cleaning fee will apply for violations

9. Breakdown & Emergencies

In case of a breakdown or emergency, please contact us immediately at (831) 243-6673. We will provide assistance and, if necessary, arrange for a replacement vehicle or alternative transportation.

10. Limitation of Liability

Monterey Bay Car Rentals is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our vehicles. Our liability is limited to the rental fees paid.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on our website and will be effective immediately upon posting.
